  1. The advice I was given was when awake, a new baby should not go for more than 4 hours without eating and when sleeping it is 6 hours. Never got a chance to test this out myself coz neither of my two slept for that long!!

  2. No its not bad. They need to be fed every 3-4 hours.Well that if he's a newborn or couple months old.

  3. As long as baby is gaining weight and eating enough during the day...let him sleep. If he is not gaining weight well, wake him up and feed him.

  4. a nurse told me that yeah if they go that long without eating then to wake them up

at least with babies up to 3 months she said

and she said in these words: "they will sleep their lives away if you elt them"

so I think it's good you did

  5. When I asked my pediatrician if I should wake my baby at feeding time, because she slept a lot...he said, "you're baby will wake when she gets hungry"  He is a very good doctor, that I trust...and he was right.  So unless you're child has a sleeping disorder, I think that's the advice I'd follow.  LOL.

  6. Never wake a baby up..Just let him sleep

  7. If he has exceeded his birth weight then let him be your alarm clock.  This is what my pediatrician said.  Until he has gone over his birth weight, you should feed him every 3 hours.  If you are breastfeeding, you should feed him every two hours.

  8. It all depends on how old the baby is, if you are nursing or formula feeding.  If it is during the day I would wake the baby if it is at night (midnight to 6 am) I would not wake the baby.  If the baby is a newborn preemie or low birth weight I would consider waking, if the baby is full term and good size let that baby sleep the night away.  My oldest was 8lb 2oz and slept through the night at 2 weeks old from 9 to 7 like a champ.

  9. Depending on the parenting book or pamplhets you read, most say wake up baby. I never have... I just listen for the pre-wake/hungry fussing.

  10. I never woke my daughter up to feed her.  She would wake up when she was ready to eat.

  11. Yes.  Let him sleep, when he gets hungary enough he will wake.  If you wake up to feed, it'll take a long time before he sleeps through the night.

  12. it depends on how old he is ....if they are under four weeks you need to wake them to feed every three to four hours if they are older just let him sleep.

  13. I was told never to wake my baby at night time but if she overslept during the day to wake her for feeds four hourly... however, her weight gain was slow so the nurse wanted to be sure she was being fed regularly

  14. That depends on the age and weight of your baby. For example a newborn needs to eat every 2-3 hrs depending on if your breastfeeding or bottle feeding.
