Is it bad to wear reading glasses a lot if you have good vision?

I bought a pair of low-magnetism (1.00) from the local dollar store. They are NOT perscription. I have good eye sight and like to just wear them around the house (I've always wanted glasses xD). I was wondering, could wearing them frequently, even when I'm not reading be bad for my eyesight?

  1. what you can do, that would not cause any extra strain on your eyes is buying a cheap frame with plano (no RX) lenses in them so you can wear them as you please.

edit: wearing glasses you don't need will cause eye strain and sometimes pain. It's not likely to cause you to need a prescription, but still possible none the less.

  2. You should get your eyes checked to see if you really do need them. The ones you bought from the dollar store are only good to see up close, there is no distant vision in those. You should get some reading glasses that will have your prescription so you can see up close AND far away.

  3. If you can see with reading glasses on, you will see even better with your correct prescription.  You are hypermetropic.

Tell the doctor about your experience and get fitted properly.

  4. Glasses tend to encourage people to stare, diffuse, strain, and squint. When we do any of these incorrect vision habits we sqeeze our eyes out of shape and get blurry vision and start on the road to stronger and stronger vision habits.

Blurry vision is a learned behavior. People with blurry vision have many subtle incorrect vision habits. When we start to wear glasses even though they are plano we may start to copy the other incorrect vision habits of people who wear prescription glasses.

People who want to wear glasses for fasion should not wear prescriptions and should learn about the principles of natural perfect eyesight so they will not pick up on the blurry vision habits and ruin their eyesight.
