im a Zimbabwean girl and was very proud of Kirsty Coventrys win in the womens 200m backstroke.i waited anxiously for the gold medal ceremony only to go on a commercial break for the next 4/5 minutes...

again one of our own won the men 200m semis last night but no slomo or playbacks were done on him...

we know Zimbabwe is not the best of countries right now but that does not mean they dont deserve as much broadcast as any other olympist..

we are all human and they all put their all into those games..its not fair that they dont get the coverage they deserve after getting gold just because their Zimbabwean!!!

  1. To be honest that would probably happen if you were watching it here in Australia as well, unless it was like the Chinese person who won the weightlifting (like if it was a really close race and an Aussie just missed out or something or it was a classic finish) then they would still be showing it before ad breaks the day after.

  2. not just kristy but all non-american athletes dont get covered for awarding coz NBC is USA....same in other countries most likely. i like kristy. she seem like a beautiful person in and out.

  3. thats wat happened in Australia but suprisingly they got Michael Phelps on and one reporter actually said "u know Australia is behind u" and im like WTF!! this guy is american he swims against Aussies but u go for him, wat suck-ups!!

  4. It's not because they are from Zimbabwe, it's because they are not from the U.S.

Frankly, Americans rather watch Americans and to keep ratings up (which maximizes revenue), they show the people what they want.

It's not fair but other countries probably show their own athletes more.
