  1. depends, if your company offer web design you have more to talk about when it comes to design classes.

At the end of the day knowledge is power, he/she who knows more will flourish.

  2. Not as much webdesigning but you do benefit a lot from doing a webdevelopment course as robots/spiders will have less problems with, for example, spidering xhtml valid webpages.

Robots also have issues with JavaScript, no ALT tags in images and so on. In order to do good SEO (besides the content and links) you need to deliver a nice coded webpage :)

  3. No it is not necessary if you have some knowledge of html tags. If you join the course it will be beneficial for you. I saw some jobs of seo with skills of web designing. You may be able to apply for these types of job and get handsome salary.

  4. Definitely it's a yes recommendation to take a web design course since often the authoring tools and final designs can in fact impact negatively on SEO indexing, i.e., use of frames or incomplete properties characteristics for Flash opening splash pages, etc.

    Good luck!

  5. Its a personal choice.

Well my answer would be do not waste money on joining courses unless they are recognised and will add some plus to your present portfolio. This is because if you know basic html, do learn your self this way you will not just learn but master the knowledge and skills. You will also be ahead of few hundreds who has started learning at the same time as you in an institute (ofcourse all this happens if you have the zeal and work, learn as you planned).

    Coming to SEO + what?

It depends on what you want to be in the next 5 years.

SEO + working knowledge of maintaining a server (at least vps) + installing php scripts + learning small hacks to modify these php scripts (i am not saying to make anything illegal, just to adjust or tweak them to match your present site) + how to design banners, buttons, templates using what ever the available software + etc)

All these you can learn on due course. Start your own website and play with it. You will master everything from there (after few months, days or years as it depends on person to person).
