To play "in the spirit of the game". Winning or losing doesn't matter as long as you have a great time and putting up a fight.

There is never a right way to lose. The best you can do is be gracious in defeat but vow to do better next time.

Winning at all costs probably could include cheating. Where's the achievement in that? So that is not acceptable either.
