Personally, I prefer the one that comes with Windows. It's a reliable, easy to use, sturdy program that works very well. The other utilities can be confusing, annoying, hog system resources. Hope this helped!

It probably depends on what brand of wireless NIC you have, but for the Linksys cards I have, the Linksys software is better. The Windows wireless software didn't know about some of the options my Linksys cards have.

I found the same to be true for my Intel PROSet/Wireless (Broadcom 2200 b/g) built-in to my current laptop. The Intel version has better wireless management tools and I like the interface better. A new Vista laptop I have used didn't seem to come with any choice. It seems to be Vista or nothing.

Really it all depends on whatever you like. If you use the 3rd party software if messes with windows sometimes and they usualy come with a bunch of crazy stuff you don't need. Just using windows for controling NIC's maks things simpler generaly.
