  1. I am from Bangladesh and my daughter is in her 4th years of MBBS at SSMC. We knew that students from SAARC countries like Pakistan, India and Nepal (May be also from Sri Lanka and Maldives too) since they get some preferential treatment in admission from SAARC Quota. I saw students coming from Iran in Bangladesh since 1970s.

Now the apparent advantages, those I see, in Inter-SAARC students exchange programs:

    1. Language: The medium of Instruction - English is easy to understand for its South Asian dialect in compare to the Chinese-English. In general, Chinese people do not understand nor do they speak English, a major barrier of communication with non-Chinese.

    2. Food: Tastes and preparation of food are also similar in this South Asian region than how they cook in China. I visited China twice on business purpose and found that the local Chinese foods to be non-compatible to our tastes. PS. The Chinese restaurants those we see in South Asia have cooking style and tastes far remote than what authentic Chinese food tastes in China.

    3. Cost: Any Chinese medical college would be costlier than their Bangladeshi counterpart in terms of fees and lodging etc., given the fact that the standard of living increased dramatically in major Chinese cities after their great leader Deng Xiao Ping's reform policies implemented since 1990s and getting pace every year.

    4. Recognition of MBBS degree: As someone said above that the accreditation that Bangladeshi medical colleges receive in most of the Western countries are better than the Chinese since the British ruled us for more than 200 years. The same is true for The Philippines where the American rules made that country very well groomed in English language than their South East Asian counterparts.

Apart from these peripheral advantages Bangladesh medical colleges have, the Chinese would get better infrastructural facilities and instruments with very illustrative books (I am not sure if you can get one translated in English). The thing that one may need to learn (memorise) is about 7500 Chinese Language Characters just to be able to interact meaningfully. For Science (Engineering & Medicine) you may have to double or triple that quantity of characters to do very good in your studies in China.

    Either way, happy learning!

  2. Bangla Desh appears to be much better than China to get medical education. The teaching standards are good and it's degrees are accepted in England and other common wealth countries. The education pattern is almost same as in Pakistan and both grant FCPS as their post graduate degree in the different branches of the medical faculty. FCPS as a PG degree has a sound reputation as MD from India. You can directly appear at the part 2 MRCP after FCPS. It was so with our own Indian MD but due to some short sightedness and hasty reaction of the Government of India, the Royal College derecognised it and now you have to start from Part- 1 for MRCP UK. Bangladeshi degrees are recognised in India and you will find doctors having Bangladeshi MBBS degrees practising in West Bengal, specially in Calcutta.

  3. While some of the medical colleges in Bangladesh are recognzied by MCI, the recogniztion of the Chinese medical colleges is still a question mark. Further China has only recently introduced the MBBS program (It was Traditional Chinese medicine which was earlier taught to foreign students). This English medium 'MBBS Program" was started by agents using the infrastructure of the regular medical colleges. Would suggest you Russia which has been conducting its MBBS programs in the English medium way back from 1997. The cost is affordable and the degrees are not only recognized in India but also all over the European Union. You may wish to visit www.beadoctor.com for more details
