In general, the most accurate way to assess humidity for the laymen is to note the dew point.  Typically speaking, dew points in the 50s are considered marginally humid, with the 60s being &quot;humid&quot; as dew points reaching 70° or higher are considered sultry.  High humidity levels cause increased respiratory distress, rotting of organic materials and increase overall risks to health in most ages of humans.
