  1. my daughter is 3 and she sleeps with a pillow. usually it's infants 12mnths and younger that don't sleep with pillows. my daughter didn't use a pillow until she was 2. but that's just me every one has a different opinion.

  2. Once they were out of a crib I gave them a pillow, but it was flat enough to not hurt their neck.   They usually slept ON it for a long time.    They will push it away if they don't want it.

  3. Depends on the age. If they're 'toddling' at one year and you're considering that a toddler I would say it's unnecessary at that age (support, suffocation, etc.). By two or two and a half my girls were asking for a pillow. I just bought them small throw pillow inserts (they're smaller, better for smaller neck support, fit in the toddler bed, etc.) and made pillow covers. As for a 'real' pillow, my daughter didn't get her first one until she was nearly four years old and moved into her full-size bed. Depending on the size of the kiddo too they might require some extra support (other than just sleeping on a mattress) and a pillow could offer that to them. Just be sure they're old enough and able to move around on their own (I wouldn't do it before the child turned 2 for safety reasons).

    Best of luck to you!

  4. My kids were all over one before I gave them a pillow.  I gave them a pillow when they seemed to be uncomfortable and not falling asleep easily.  I would say it was probably around 15 months to about 2-1/2 when I gave them pillows.  The youngest is 21 months and he's had his since he was about 15 months.  I didn't give the oldest a pillow until he was 2-1/2 years old.  So it varies from child to child, and I don't think it's right or wrong for them to have one.  You just shouldn't give them one before they are 1 because of infant crib death.

  5. It depends on the toddler and how they sleep.  It's recomended not to have a toddler sleep with a pillow until age two and then have them sleep on a low pillow.  However, my son at age 14 months my son was having a hard time sleeping in his crib but would sleep fine in our bed.  We moved him into a twin bed and he slept somewhat better but still would sleep better in our bed on our pillows so I thought it would be fine to try a pillow with him.

I just gave him one of our older down pillows that had lost a lot of it's fluff and he started sleeping much better (he gets a little stuffy at night).  For the first few days I did watch him on our baby monitor to make sure he was turning his head  and not laying face down.

Depending on how old your toddler is, I would just watch them for a few days.
