  1. Turn it off and on.

Of course there is a surge when it is first started and some energy is retained in the tube in the form of a static charge and in capacitors, but all this would amount to only a few seconds of on time.

  2. Depends on what show your watching.

  3. Turning on and off any appliance doesn't save much electricity bill but it saves human life. It is more safer to turn off all appliances when you are not using it esp. when you are out of the house or going somewhere.

  4. The best way to save money on TV electricity is to get a new lcd model. You can burn it all day for  a few cents. The old Tube TV uses an incredible amount more electricity.  Think of it this way, anything that creates heat uses more power. Toasters, light bulbs, ovens. etc. LCDs are cool and low power.

  5. no

  6. Turn it off and on!!  The only thing you can save is the switch
