  1. I don't see any harm in either one.

  2. I tried Wicca long ago...

It was "cool", but much too Pacifist for ME.

  3. The same final result.

  4. If you care about believing what is real, atheist.

  5. that's like asking is it better to be christian or catholic, and you know what you'd get, for some people religion helps so for them religion's better, for others it doesn't.

oh and b4 any thickos have a go, wicca is a religion!

  6. Neither is better. They are equally valid choices for thinking individuals.

  7. Wicca.  Because it's a beautiful religion.  And (in my opinion) it's better to believe in something, than in nothing.

  8. I prefer Wicca, but there's nothing wrong with those who are skeptics, and who choose to be atheists, either.

  9. None of the above.

  10. That depends entirely on what you believe but neither is inherently *better* or more beneficial to ones life.

I was raised secular and once I was old enough to seriously think about such things I spent a decent portion of my life quite sure no gods existed so you could say I was an atheist though I don't believe I labeled myself that way. Then I spent a good deal of time looking into other religions and then I became Wiccan. My belief status has had virtually no impact on how my life is going/was going. That has always been determined by my actions and my state of mind. Yes, my religion affects that a little, but being Wiccan has not changed who I am.

My husband is an atheist and his life is no better or worse than mine.

So my answer is either or neither. Religion is a big factor in ones life, but it isn't a band aid or fix for one's problems and it doesn't change a person's innate personality or outlook on life. The only thing that would really negatively impact a person's life is to try to attach a label to oneself that doesn't fit. Saying you are Wiccan or atheist when that isn't what you really are is like wearing a sweater two sizes too small - it's suffocating and really uncomfortable.

  11. What ever floats your boat at the time

  12. That totally depends on what YOU believe.

  13. I really don't know -- I've never been a Wiccan.  But it seems like the sense of community would be nice -- that's something we atheists really don't have.

Unfortunately, I can't choose to be a Wiccan because I cannot, through sheer force of will, compel myself to believe any of their claims about the supernatural.

  14. that is up to to you to decide.  If you believe that there is absolutely nothing out there, then you are already atheist.  If you beleive there is something but you dont know what, you are agnostic.

If you believe that there are multiple somethings out there, then you are pagan.  Realize there are plenty of pagan religions out there that are *NOT* Wiccan.  Wicca is just one of the many.  Do some research, google these:

    hellenism paganism

    Asatru

    Kemetic orthodoxy

    Reconstructionalist

    Celtic reconstructionalist

EDIT: Added the *NOT* Part ... typo

  15. It is 'better' to develop your own spirituality, and where possible, base it in the spiritual/magical experiences of your own life. If you find that the 'coincidences' in your life become 'too great', you may develop a sense that some 'being' external to you is involved with your life, or trying to communicate with you. Or you may develop a sense that these non-coincidental 'spiritual' occurences are rooted in a science that we don't yet understand. Either way, acknowledge and appreciate these experiences and examine how they influence your life and morality. It's your journey.

  16. Neither is better. They are both beliefs..it's better to believe in something than nothing at all.

  17. Atheist because Wicca are giving in to Satan's powers.

  18. none choose Jesus Christ, both are going to end you up in h**l

  19. neither!

  20. I Believe in everything except idea of creator God.

  21. that is a personal choice... if you ask a wiccan, they'll probably say 'wiccan' or 'either'... if you ask an athiest, they'll probably say 'Athiest, because all else is stupid'.  IF you ask a christian, they'll say neither, be christian.

what do YOU want to be?

I'm a pagan witch.  I say either.  Your choice.  ;)

  22. Well, I consider myself uniquely qualified to answer this, as I've been a Wiccan for over 20 years and before that an atheist for almost as long.

    Neither is "better."

When I was an atheist, it was because I lacked any belief in god(s.)

Once I met my gods, it was about 2 years before I became seriously Wiccan.

My life was equally full, albeit in different ways, as an atheist as it has been as a Wiccan.

A few years ago, I would've said it was easier to be an atheist, as I'd never encountered "wannabe atheists" who did not know what atheism meant, and Wicca has tons of wannabe Wiccans who don't know what Wicca means. Since then, though, I've discovered there are a few atheist equivalents of our fluffy bunnies.

I'd also like to say that I think that I would lose fewer friends if I ceased to be a Wiccan and became an atheist than I did when I ceased to be an atheist and became a Wiccan. In my experience *some* atheists really fear and/or hate ex-atheists or assume they never were atheists. This is, in part, because some Christians claim they "used to be atheists" and talk about things like, oh, searching for Christ....

When I was an atheist, I wasn't searching for anything. Anyone who's read my stuff here or elsewhere knows that I didn't benefit from meeting my gods, initially.

  23. both are as good as each other.

  24. Now don't go starting hostility between Wiccans and atheists.  We're both too persecuted by the majority to be battling each other.  Most members of each group are currently pretty tolerant of the other group, if for no other reason than the natural alliance of fellow underdogs.  However, each group does contain some members who find the other group distasteful and they DO speak and act accordingly.

If you're looking for a path to follow, ask about each belief system individually, then make your own decision about which is "better" for YOU.
