Is it better to be a warrant officer as a pilot?

  1. no, they have more experience in the enlisted field but that's it.  If you wish to fly just become a normal officer.  rank does not matter its the here and now that matters.   But if you would rather be a warrant officer in the army rather than go to rotc or ocs than yes it would be quicker ifthat'ss what you want.


  2. Yes. Warrant officers' main job is to fly and they tend to do this for their entire career. An Aviation officer, on the other hand, has a primary job of being in a leadership role (PLT LDR, Company commander, BN commander, etc.) They usually find it very hard to find time to actually fly. Also, when in these command positions, they may be in charge of units that are aviation support (i.e. maintenance, operations, etc). They are not even guaranteed to command a unit of pilots. I was aviation enlisted when I was in and our CO never got to fly. So, if you want to fly for your career, I would recommend going Warrant.

  3. Also, warrant officers tend to get more respect from enlisted memebers because they worked their way through the ranks.
