  1. Unless you are a expert on the subject of customizing and fabricating... Get what you want to begin with... Changing from a auto to a stick is a nightmare. Sounds simple to begin with but trust me it is a terrible task to accomplish and do right.

  2. This doesn't seem like it should be confusing.  Converting an automatic to a standard is a lot of work and even in an '89, not for a beginner.  Buy what you want from the start and enjoy it right off the bat.

  3. Buy what you want.

  4. get it stick from the get go

u will no run into as much problems

    answer my question plez

  5. Buy a stick, it will cost a lot less in the long run. My 89 mustang was a stick and so much fun. Also, the stick cars are a lil faster in my opinion. I cry everytime I look at my car which was totaled.

  6. Automatic fox bodys arent attractive to me. if you can drive stick, then obviously this question shouldnt be up.

the hardest part of the conversion is actually the pedals in my opinion. you will need a t-5 tranny, speedo gears, pedals, clutch cable, adjust the throttle body and resurfaced clutch. its easy if your into it. grab a chilton book and scope it out. if you like the computer to do the shifting for you then auto would be best. but buying it as a factory 5 speed? well theres nothing wrong with that unless you cant shift

  7. At first I thought you meant to convert the car, but I'm guessing you mean as far as driving the thing.

Being able to use stick shift is useful as you might rent or borrow a stick shift.

However if you drive a lot and have lots of stop-start traffic every day an auto would be less hard work.

The '89 box is not the best in the world, but will do - have the whole vehicle properly inspected before you put money down.
