  1. ABSOLUTLEY NOT!!!!!!!!

to be truthfully honest with u. i would return them to a pet store a get smaller fish unless u plan on getting 300+++++GALLON tank. there is no way u can keep these fish together. a 20g is not even suitable.

i had a florida chain alligator gar. HAD as in past tense. lol. he was in my 60g tank (even that was too small) he was about 10inches when i got him. he ate 100+ medium goldfish and about $60+ worth of my personal fish!!!! in 5 days!!! i kept him for about 6 months and gave him to a friend that had a 300g tank. he was about 14inches when i gave the gar to him. i couldnt keep him for obvious reasons. i mean this gar bit my 6inch albino pleco in half!!! and tried eating my 12inch tiger shovelnose catfish. i no longer have these fish cuz 1. they are too big for my 60g. 2. it cost me $60 a month to feed the two. and lost about $180 worth of personal fish. so again i strongly suggest getting a BIGGER TANK or donating them to a pet store.

no offense, but i imagine u are still a begginer in this judging from the fish setup u have and the way u spelled "chickled". the correct spelling is cichlid and is pornounced (sick-lid). i couldnt pronounce that when i first started too, lol, soo dont feel bad. :) cichlid is the family name for a fish. an oscar is a south american "cichlid". a jack dempsey is a south american "cichlid".  cichlids are the largest family of freshwater fish and come in various shapes and sizes.

sorry for the bad news but i do wish u luck on whatever u decide to embark.

GARS are cool but it is very hard to keep them from eating everybody else not matter how well stocked the tank is with feederfish.

oh ya to give u an idea of the size these fish are going to be.

    oscar 12-14inches needs 75g+

    pacu around 24inches needs 300g+

alligator gar AT least 5FEET 500g+

cichlid?? pending on what it is it can grow anywhere from 3inches to 24inches and will need say 75g

    pleco 24 inches needs 60g.

  2. You really need larger than a twenty.

  3. are you kidding me? an alligator gar, an oscar , a pacu and a pleco in a 10 gallon?! thats a joke dude.... your gunna have a blood bath...

  4. You have a pacu in a ten gallon tank?  You have an Oscar and a Cichlid in a ten gallon tank?  You have an ALLIGATOR GAR in a ten gallon tank!?  Dear lord!

    1.  Those fish need a much larger tank.  I'm talking hundreds of gallons.

    2.  Those fish are aggressive.  Oscars EAT cichlids.

    3.  You're really in need of checking out some library books and reading more about your pets.  I have a feeling that you don't know what you're doing, not at all.  No experienced fishkeeper would put those fish together in a 10 gallon tank.  Please return them to the pet store.  They will gladly take them back.  Then, when you're done, go to the local library and get some books out about the fish you want to raise.  Before you buy a fish, read everything you can about them.  Because right now you've doing many, many things wrong.

No, a 10 gallon tank is not big enough.  No, a 20 gallon tank is not big enough.  No, you should not be keeping any of those beautiful fish as pets until you read up on them and know what you're doing.

Edit:  Just to give you a little hint, alligator gars grow to be this big:  http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/gallery/de...

  5. 20 gallon definately maybe even bigger for the fish you are keeping.

  6. What are you thinking????

You are going to need a tank up around 500gal to house those fish. Even if they are tiny now they will outgrow a 20gal tank in months, if the dont kill each other first.

Those fish dont just grow too big for a 10gal, they grow to the SIZE of a 10gal.

    Sheesh

  7. You're not serious?

Just the Oscar itself needs a 75 gallon minimum. You could keep the pleco with it though.

The alligator gar needs at least 200 gallons and lots of room to swim/hunt/hide.

Pacu's are schooling fish that get quite large and need at least 75 gallons for a group of 6 of them.

I don't know what kind of cichlid you have since cichlid is a genus and not a species. Like Oscars are cichlids. There are Blue German Ram Cichlids, Angelifish are cichlids too. So depending on the kind of cichlid you have, you need at least a 30 gallon tank for one.

It really sounds like you aren't able to properly care for any of those fish. You should take them all back and set up a community tank in a 20 gallon tank with some schooling fish like tetras, barbs, or danios.

Please do some research on the needs of your future pets.

  8. omg!!!!!!! you need a huge tank lots more than 20

  9. HA HA HA VERY FUNNY. wait till you have a serious question.

  10. If you have the money then you should get a 20 gallon. With tanks bigger is always better cuz it suppliesd the fish with more room and they are happier. It all just depend on the amount of money that you have. hpoe i helped:]]

  11. your fish are actually capable of living in there!!!!!!!!!!

1.pacu will need 100 gal. cause he gets 5 ft. long!

2.an oscar is a type of ciclad and all ciclads need 20- 40 gal.

3.alligator gars get 6 1/2 feet long and will need 120 gal.

4 plecos get 18 in. long and need a 20 gal.

in all you need a 340 gal. aquarium.  you should give your fish to an aquarium or someone else who has the right conditions.(friend, cabelas) then you can keep the 1 of these with a twenty gallon:pleco, ciclad, oscar.

  12. Even a 20 isn't big enough just for the oscar once it starts growing.  You are ridiculously overstocked.... even for a twenty gallon.... those are all BIG FISH!

You need to take some of those fish back to the store.
