Is it better to call the prospect before i email or fax my company proposal?

I want to solicit advertisement for my website. is it proper to call the company find out who is in charge and speak to him/her about my proposal in brief and fax /email my proposal? Or just fax to the company and call him/her to see my proposal?

  1. Call first. It is better for a busy executive to know your intention by calling first. Communicate first to his/her secretary. With this method you will be able to determine if the executive is interested or not hence you will not also waste your time.

Yes, call first.  But when you call make sure you have a script (and I don't mean a sales pitch) that you prepare in advance so that when you get your prospect on the phone, you can sound informed and get directly to your point.  Don't ask them to buy on the phone, ask them to review your proposal when you send it in  and ask if you call follow up a couple days after they've received it.

  3. Call First. During that phone call ask if it would be ok to send the more information.

    Proposal's sent first will mostl likely end up in the round file can.
