I recently heard that the Humane Society/SPCA are inferior because they eventually kill unwanted animals.

Any names or suggestions??

  1. If you donate "no kill" animals to charities, are you going to volunteer to feed and care for them. Charities already have their hands full.

It is a huge problem and yes, that is a serious flaw in the system. People who don't spay and neuter their pets AssUMe that the SPCA has an unlimited supply of homes for the puppies and kittens they produce. I'm glad you've discovered this ugly truth. My suggestion would be, instead of calling them inferior for doing the best they can with what they have, join the campaigns to educate folks who aren't spaying and neutering their pets.

  2. They only put down those who can not be helped.

  3. animal shelters that aren't 'no kill' will put down animals that don't get homes.. certain breeds, for example pit bulls, get put higher on the list as well as animals that are older because most people want puppies and kittens so the older ones don't get homes.. but a no kill shelter won't do that i guess.

  4. There are organizations like Best Friends that act as a sanctuary. They will adopt when possible, but if not they will act as a forever home.
