Depends on the area you live in.  I've heard it takes 8 glasses of water to clean one dirty glass.  Not sure if it's true, but that could be quite detrimental to the environment.

I am surprised that people are surprised by this video. If you stay in hotels regularly you will know that glasses are not always removed from the rooms. To confirm this, look at the housekeeper's trolley, you will often see dirty cups, saucers and plates. I have rarely seen water glasses on the trolley which is taken down to the kitchens for dishwashing. Although to be fair, SOME  hotels do have drinking glasses that are sealed in plastic bags prior to your use. I assume these are clean.

Glass is much better to use in your own home. If we are staying in hotels we always take our own mugs, which we rinse and pour boiled water over. Not ideal but as the video demonstrates a better option than the chemical spray and cold water rinse routine.

I would think glasses, just because they are reusable... Plastic cups take energy to make, package and dispose of. Glasses last alot longer, so it would be cheaper too!

do the dishes wash the glasses like grandma did before they had paper and plastic cups

and you can make great semi disposable cups from bamboo very cheap in all kinds of imaginable sizes

It takes less resources to wash a glass than to make a plastic cup for every drink you take.

I am a Environmentalist. S.S.Subbu from Baroda, Guarat, India.

Now a days all over Plastics Bags, Cups, Plates are using by all of us. I am 100 % against that.

For eg, When a person Celebrate his Birthday ( App 25 Memebers) moretahn 50 Platics Cups/Plastic Spoon,Plates/Balloon, Cartoon Boxes,Wrappers etc etc wasted.

It is better to Celebrate Birthday by simple and eco friendly maner.

E.g I am celebrating Birthday with  limited members . I used to Decorate Hall  with Natural Plants and flowers only. No Balloon or plastic Ribbon ( 100% without plastic items).

We serve Food/Sweets in Steel Plate,Glass, Spoon only.

We never allow Platic Bags, Cups,Spoons,Balloon etc.

When we go for Shopping, we use to keep one Cotton Bag with us. We packed all the items in that bag only.

If shop owners offer free attractive Plastic bags we refuse to take the Platic bags.

i personally like drinking out of 20 oz. bottles! but that's because im addicted to mountain dew! LOL!! i hate drinking out of glasses so i would say plastic cups!
