My dryer seems to take forever with anything that is heavy (jeans, towels) should I split them up - or do them all at once.

Which is better in terms of saving energy

  1. I'm assuming that you clean your lint filter frequently?

I agree with both answers. I would also suggest, tho, that you check that your vent hose is clear all the way to the outside. If it's not, it restricts air flow and slows drying, and lint build up is a definite fire hazard.

  2. All at once. It could be that the heating element is going bad.

  3. don't dry your jeans in the dryer, string a hanging line in your home[the furnace room is great free heat from your furnace to make use of]anything heavy material hang up lighter stuff like socks and undergarments use dryer, even towels dry on line and then put in dryer when dry for 5 minutes to fluff up.Anytime you can use a drying line it will save you money on your energy bill.

  4. Watch the humidity outside. The lower the humidity the faster the time it will dry.

  5. It's better to wash or dry a big load, instead of many small loads.

The best way to save energy is to not use a dryer at all, and hang your clothes to dry.
