  1. Never been to Portugal but we always change our money for euros here before we go to Spain, there are a lot of rip off merchants in mediterranean resorts and the post office here is safer.


  2. The best 'cash money' deal currently available is with Marks adn Spencer. You should be aware that all money exchanges are made using the AMEX tourist rate, and there is only one way you can better that. With a Nationwide Bank Account use their debit card to get cash from ATM in any country outside the UK and they give you the midrate for curency exchange (their credit card offers the same value). While most tourists are getting - eg €1.20 for £1, with Nationwide you would be getting €1.26 for £1
