Is it better to exchange or refill propane tank for barbecue?

We just purchased a Weber Spirit barbecue and are gas grilling for the first time. Should we buy a tank at Costco and have it filled at the local propane place, or do the exchange at Home Depot? Thanks

  1. There's really no difference in exchanging or refilling the propane tanks, other than the fact that it's cheaper 2 exchange than refill.

  2. It doesn't make any difference, just that refilling is cheaper.

  3. Exchanging is cheaper but you sometimes turn in a new tank and get one back that isn't so nice.

  4. Well you should never throw away a propane tank in the trash, which is why they promote the refilling. That way you only have one propane tank to deal with, and you don't have them piling up. The cost savings of refilling is usually a plus as well.

  5. Buy a tank and have it filled. The first time filling will be a bit more expensive since they need to purge the tank. Exchange tanks are about $10 higher in cost than refilling.
