Question:

Is it better to fight in a more popular weight class?

I am 125, so I believe I would be a featherweight, but I could put on a few pounds and be a lightweight.

I am about 5'10 or 11, so height is not a big problem, I think.

Lightweight is more popular, so would that be better?

  1. Who cares which one is most popular? Fight at the weight you can compete the best in. When you get to the elite ranks...then think about what weight class is more popular..for now..just worry about getting there.

  2. you should fight where you are comfortable. don't be a ricky hatton and fight at welterweight where everybody is better and stronger than you. id fight at super featherweight if i were you. you would be a really tall super feather which will be an advantage for you.

  3. If you are walking around at that wieght, you need to get in shape. Is that 125lbs. If so then your height to wieght ratio is off.

  4. Don't worry about popular weight divisions, there are weight divisions for a reason. Ask De La Hoya's ribs about that. When he met Hopkins, he was exposed.

  5. honestly you want to fight at a weight that your Strong and able to reach realistically if your weight is around 125 i say try to get in to shape and work your way up from either the 118 weight class or just get into shape and keep your 125 weight and do it like that your best bet is to fight at a weight you can be healthily at

if you want more info you should proabally call your local gym and talk to a trainier since i dont know you
