I want to get my belly pierced but I am afraid it will hurt alot without anesthetic injected. Will it? Also, it is better to get it pierced by a doctor? I am getting it done with a piercer, will their equipment be sterile?

Thanks

  1. I've heard it's actually bad to get anaesthetic before a piercing because it hinders the later healing process. For example, my friend got hers done at a medical centre and hers hurt for months afterwards. I got mine done at my piercer and it was only mildly sore for a few days.

Also, the important thing to note is that a doctor is NOT a piercer. Sure they know what not to hit and all that medical stuff. But academic knowledge is no replacement for experience. If you find a professional piercer they would have studied the medical knowledge specific to piercings, and continue to attend conferences and read up on new innovations regarding piercings.

A professional piercer's equipment should always be sterile. If you're worried, ask to see their autoclave first, and all the equipment should be fresh and one-use so you should see them open a sealed bag to get it. If you don't and you have any suspicions, leave straight away and don't let them touch you if you don't trust them.

    Hope this helps!

  2. With a professional piercer everything should be properly sterilized.

The clam hurts more than the actual piercing itself.

but if you know you have a very low pain tolerance.

    get the anesthetic

  3. You can get numbing cream. Believe me i was scared. But it didnt hurt as much as i thought. She took me through everything thing and told me what she would be doing. Just get this numbing cream form your chemist its under $20 and worth it. :)  good luck bet it will look hot as :)

  4. When did they start numbing the area for piercings? Doesn't that take the edge out of it? If you don't have enough balls to get the piercing done, don't do it.
