  1. Generally, Farmer's Markets are better because they are usually fresher than supermarket produce. But that's about as far as I will go. the actual quality (taste, texture variety etc) still deoends on the seller or time of the year.

However, more and more supermarkets are stocking up on organic or high quality producee these days (with the attendant increase in price of course). It really depends on the store itself. High end stores will label their and price their produce accordingly. The best way is to buy veggies and fruits in season. That way, even "regular" supermarkets tend to stock up on the best (or better) quality produce with the best prices

By the way, some "farmer's markets" are not really that. They buy the leftovers from farms (the ones that big supermarket buyers have already picked from) and sell them by the roadside. And sometimes, they have been there for days and are not really fresh at all.

  2. I love the farmers market but in my area the quality has been going down due to all the first picks being gobbled up by local restaurants. Still a great place to find interesting varieties. Prices are hit and miss. Best get there early. Supermarket is fine for the convenience.

  3. farmers market. much cheaper and much fresher

  4. The real key is buy what is in season.  Consumers have forgotten all about seasonality.  That is why farmers markets always seem to have better produce.  It is because a FM can only sell what is in season locally.  So shop where you like, but remember to buy what is in season.

Peaches aren't supposed to exist in N. America in December!!!

  5. it's up to you... farmers markets are more organic and locally grown food, and lower in price.... supermarkets cost more, not as much organic and definately not locally grown.  i go back and forth and depends on what i'm buying.  in some cases i don't want the organic stuff becuase i've found bugs or it goes bad quicker.  but i do like supporting local farms and paying less!  it's up to you though, both are good!

  6. Farmers Market

  7. depends on where you are living. the role is to find them fresh

  8. They are both ok, it's not like the supermarket will sell you something that isn't safe to eat. But if you are picky about preservatives, then stick to the farmers market. As the name is said, they come from farmers- not industries that have purchased the food. It is definately fresher to get things at a farmers market.

  9. Anywhere as long as it's labeled certified organic. I've seen certified organic produce in pavilions, whole foods, and the farmers market,
