Question:

Is it better to golf with your dominant hand? Or does it matter?

I'm a natural leftie but was taught to golf years ago to use right handed clubs. I golf pretty well this way but I've been wondering if it would have been better if I did learn to golf as a leftie instead. Any thoughts?

This argument has been around for a number of years.

The great Ben Hogan says he wish he had 4 right hands as he approached impact. But he also said he gives it a good whack with his left hand as well.

The question is best explored via your own swing mechanics. For body swingers, its easier to control the hands because the body provides most of the power. The hands swingers tends to find it harder to provide power and control with the hands.

Most weekend hackers - including myself start out with picking up a club and try to bash the hebejebees out of the ball. Its a golf swing - not a gold bash.

  2. Well the funny thing about golf is its actually a non dominant hand game....if your right handed your left hand does all the work in swinging and creating a lag. I believe that golf is played better right handed, I'm not just saying that because I'm right handed, I just think that right handed players who are good tend to be better then lefties I mean not to many good lefties on tour and phil is alright but inconsistent. But you play where you feel you can get the most power and consistensy I know people who use opposite hands.

  3. No sport is worth s******g around withn your dominant hand. Use the other one.
