Is it better to have a high temp or low temp when breeding red cherryshrimps?

  1. It's just important that you avoid extreme heat and keep the water above 72*.  I successfully killed several of mine when keeping them at room temperature (about 72*).  At nearly 84*, mine bred like never before, and with sufficient food and cover, you'll see the population explode.

I've found that they tend to prefer moderate tropical temperatures.  I had two tanks with RCS in them and one was at 80 degrees F and one was around 76 degrees F and they multiplied like crazy in the 76 degree F tank and didn't do anything in the other tank until the other tank's temperature went down a little and then they started multiplying in there, too.  

    I also found that they did better when I added some iodine supplement.  I know there are great debates on the subject, but from my experience, a half dose of marine iodine once a month really helps the shrimp get through the molting process and cuts down on early deaths.
