  1. Don't take chances with your home, do whatever the pest control professional says.  Get some second opinions if you're not sure.  


  2.   Don't know about the cost differential, but the longer you live w/termites the costlier it gets to repair the damage they do.  I can understand not wanting the potential chemical exposure, but why mess around when it's your house that's in question?
