Is it better to have a long room or a square equaliteral-like room?

Question

I'm about to go to college and rented a room but have two choices between a room that is long while another is a perfect square like while they are both the same in dimensions.

the square room also has a door to go to the backyard of the house and the longer room only has a window with sunlight coming through.

which dorm would you recommend and why?

I'd pick the square one (in a heartbeat!).   The door being the #1 reason.  And to me, it's just easier arranging  -seems to have more options. . .

When you say "they're both the same dimensions" do you mean they have the same square footage? That would be my first concern.

Beyond that, the door going into the backyard sounds great.
