Hi. I have a 10-year old son who has a moderately wobbly baby tooth. He often complains that it hurts, but doesn't want it pulled out. Is it better for it to just wobble itself out or get a dentist to pull it out?

  1. It depends on how wobbly it is...

    If its not so wobbly...

get him to use his tongue to wobble his tooth and whenever he has nothing better to do.

    If it's really wobbly...

and he keeps complaining that it hurts, but won't let you pull it out, you can do the 'Let him suffer' thing and eventually he may pull it out himself or ask you.

maybe the cliche apple or red skin will get it out if he bites hard enough. Or just sit him down and pull it yourself.

If your son hasn't been to the dentist before...

it may be better if you don't take him to pull out the tooth. The needle, even though it only hurts for a second, is pretty big and he may get scared and not want to go back. Cos, lets face it, even though you say to close your eyes or to look somewhere else, they always look at the needle.

But if he keeps complaining this is the fastest way to take it out, although it may hurt your pocket...

    Good Luck!!!!

  2. U better go to the dentist.

  3. Ooh I remember putting cotton between my wobbly teeth then pulling it out. The reason I was so keen was that I always put my teeth under my pillow and then next morning the tooth was replaced with money yes the fairys had been.

I remember the dentist removing my back teeth but doing the front ones myself.

The baby tooth will eventually come out on it's own. I would wait and see at the moment don't force him to the dentist. If the tooth is causing him a lot of pain then at a guess your son will make the choice to visit the dentist himself.
