Is it better to load silverware in the dishwasher handle up or handle down?

I put mine in handle up so that 1. it is easier to grasp when removing and 2. I didn't want the kids to fall into the dishwasher and stab themselves if they did

Handle down so any streaks or debris will wash off & slide off the handles.

I put mine handle down. Just think it would clean it better being able to move when the water hits it.

I alternate them. I put one handle up and one handle down. That way there will not be nesting and they all get cleaned better.

I usually put mine handle down, except for some spoons which have such thin handles they slip out the grate at the bottom. It really doesn't matter too much, it's a matter of personal preference.
