Is it better to put an xbox 360 on its side or standing up?

Also there is about a three foot space in between my computer and my monitor there is ventilation on top front and back is it a good idea to keep the xbox here.

Its better to put in on its side, that was it has more ventilation. i think... im gonna say it does though. :D
