  1. To me, reading in bed makes me sleepy and lazier. Sitting up kinda make me more at attention and.. yeah..

  2. Almost every night all of us have all slept in a bed in a lying down position.  The strong association between bed and sleep has been repeated so often that it has become automatically rooted in our minds: bed = sleep (or s*x!).  Sleep is stronger than study my friends!  For most people they would not be able to concentrate fully as they would want to sleep if they hit the books and hit the sack at the same time.  To study well you need to be relaxed, alert and a bit excited.  You need to wonder what it is you are going to learn.  To break the link between lying down on a bed and sleep, prop your back up with many pillows.  Your head must be raised at least 12" from the sleep position.  For me, the constant shifting around I do when I lie down destroys the concentration needed to read anything longer than the TV guide.  Finally, as a previous respondent said, it is bad sleep hygiene:  what you read just before bedtime might interfere with your sleep.  Leave the day outside your bedroom.

  3. If you feel that you don't get comfortable to the point of getting sleepy then read in bed.

But be aware that reading in bed can create other problems because it's bad sleep hygiene.

  4. I also feel comfortable lie down & read, but it is not good. Firstly you might feel sleepy & lazy ,hence losing concentration. It also affects remembering process.

  5. You learn much more efficiently when you are relaxed so read lying down if that makes you comfortable. However dont allow the learning material to wash in an out of your brain, some effort is required to work with the material not just passively reading it.

  6. It depends. If I am reading a leisure book, such as "Confessions of a Shopaholic" then I love to curl up in bed and read.

However, when reading a textbook or any kind of informational text I prefer to sit up because if I don't get sleepy.
