Reserve it ahead of time.

If you do a little research you'll get a discount on the room. (per night)

Check their rates online, then call the hotel directly & ask for the manager. Tell the manager the rate to book it online & ask for a better rate by booking directly through them.

I have always gotten a really good discount this way.

I always like to reserve hotels before I get somewhere.  I dislike very much driving around a town or city I'm unfamiliar with, asking if there are vacancies.  And you don't have much choice on pricing if you go door-to-door, unless you want to go back and forth from hotel to hotel to compare prices.  And then, what if there's a big event you didn't know about that has all the rooms in town booked up?

In short, I always book online in advance.

Book online, use Hotels.com but before you book one that you like , go to that specific hotels website and check the prices, sometimes you will be surprised at what a deal you can get from the hotel itself. Especially if it is last minute. We have so many great deal stories doing just that!

Always better to reserve ahead of time, otherwise you might find you don't have anywhere to take a shower or a bed to sleep in!!!
