  1. The above answer is correct.  I read "The Natural Farmer" put out by the Northeast Organic Farming Assn and they had a pretty comprehensive article about humus.

If you have it available, or desire to make it available (composting), I would use it.  As the article points out, it's natural, it's renewable, and it's free.  I would only purchase what I couldn't come by naturally.

  2. Because 'humus' may actually  be muck soil developed in a swamp, it may not be at all as good as hyponex.  But humus can be well composted nutrient rich soil. So the general term humus does not convey enough info to make a decision.

  3. Hyponex is just a trade name for Scotts Miracle Grow. They have a variety of Hyponex products including potting soil. I doubt if it is any better or worse than Humus soil. Radishes are fairly easy to grow, I would use which ever that was the cheapest.

  4. Hyponex could be better if you are having problems with damping-off.  Alternatively, you can sterilize your soil and that won't be an issue.  http://www.extension.umn.edu/distributio...

  5. Radishes will grow in your hand if you could keep it still. Listen to the last two guys, they are right.  If you are having trouble with radishes you must have another problem. Those bitey little creeps grow like weeds.
