Is it better to use a travel site or travel agent?

My bf is moving soon, I'm devastated! I want to visit him, I know about bookingbuddy.com they compare prices to other travel sites. I try to find the cheapest tickets I can find, could a travel agent find even CHEAPER?

as a travel agent, you are better off booking directly with the airline. If you are going to use an online travel site, be sure you have heard of them before and do your homework if not, because you don't want to get caught with all of these restrictions you did not know about.

But do not use a travel agent, because the airlines do not offer commission, so there are no discounts, and yes some agents will then add their own fee to it. Never worth it. I simply just do not book flights only for clients.

A travel site, if you do your homework.  Check a number of sites that offer inexpensive flights.  These days travel agents put an extra charge on tickets because the airlines cut their commissions.

It depends on whether you know what you're doing and whether you're willing to do some homework. No website always has the cheapest fare in every situation. Southwest, for example does not sell tickets on bookingbuddy.com. If Southwest has the cheapest fare, you will overpay by using that website.

Try kayak.com. It searches many different websites and combines the results into one display. Then, you can buy the ticket from the appropriate website.

If you have the time and are willing to do the work, use a website. If not, use a travel agent. Yes, a travel agent will charge you a service fee. However, what's the advantage of doing it yourself and overpaying by $80 to save a $25 service fee?
