Question:

Is it better to use the car engine or the car battery to roll up my windows?

I leave my windows about half an inch open during the day in the driveway and close them during the night. When I go close them, I do not start the car, but instead turn the key to the "ON" position and then roll up my windows. Is this advisable, or should I turn on the engine, no matter how much gas it takes to start the car? Thanks.

  1. I would say just turn the battery on because if you are constantly turning the engine on for only a minute to roll the windows up you are putting unnecessary wear and tear on your starter.  Just use the battery.

  2. Starting is the hardest part of your engines life keep doin what your doin.   Also read your owners manual you would be surprised how much you could learn from it no matter who you are.

  3. Takes a good amount of gas to start it. What you are doing is perfectly fine and normal.

  4. just turn the battery on

  5. By starting the engine you would lose gas, but by just putting it in ON possition you just lose battert power, which can be gained for free while the car is moving!

So the ON possition is better!

  6. you can leave the engine off, the window motor uses minimal energy to operate...unless.. you raise them up an down continuously..still your finger would go numb before your batt. would drain ,plus when tou start your car your alt.recharges your battery
