Is it better to wash your car by-hand/manually or going to the carwash?

Question

I have a car and i usually take it to the car wash once every few months. but are there any benefits of washing the car yourself? of course it's cheaper but more time consuming and a lot of hard work....but how about the car? does the car get cleaned more effectively? does this serve any benefits in the long-run?

all opinions/suggestions/answers are appreciated.

Touch-less car washes can only get the car clean to an extent.  They are hard about getting off brake dust on the weals and are always hard about getting in the Little cranny's. Washing by hand is harder but the job is so much better. Rince the viehicle off well before washing and always use clean cloths and rinse the wash mitt periodically. Always use a descant cleaner remember you always get what you pay for.

If you are being environmentally friendly I would say the old bucket of water and sponge method is the best by far.

Plus it's cheaper, is good exersize and can be very s**y! depends who's watching ;)

I always wash my car by hand for the past 6 years. It isn't hard if you wash off the soap as fast as posibble after you scrubed or it'll stain and make streams of stains. Wash it with regular dishwash soap but mix that with water in a bucket way more cheaper yet efficient.

it depends if you go to a perfesional place then yea it will be clean but think about it whats so hard about washing your car its not to hard and if you put hard work into it it will come out clean to

I have always hand washed my cars. Better cleaning than with any automatic car wash, more work but worth it in the end. NEVER use dish soap as that will strip away any wax that has been applied. Use a good quality car wash soap. Get one of the liquid waxes from Maguires or Mothers as they are easy to apply and the technology has improved over the years, they are easy to wipe on and off.

You will get a much better clean if you do it yourself. A car wash can damage the paintwork over time.

Another good thing, is that it gives you a bit of a work out, helps you keep slim and desirable.Though, looking at your picture, I might come over and clean it for you. You don't need to try and be more desirable

Washing the car yourself/by hand is better than using the machine, because using machine may not be so clean as the outcome is, and secondly you may scratch your vehicle just because there is dust, soil or sand stuck on your vehicle body.

A hand wash will usually get a vehicle cleaner than an automatic wash.  Also, there is less chance of damaging the vehicle when you wash it by hand - car washes are known for taking out antennas and mirrors.

The only real positive about car washes is that it is easier and quicker.

men usually like to wash their own car as they grow attach to it.

However as for me, I like to go to the carwash as its easier and faster!

Taking your car often to the machine car wash reduces the shine and color on the car.

Washing you car at home save you but not as clean

Time +effort + detergents = bad investment

Therefore i suggest you wash your car at those manual car wash

Where you pay a few dollar but get to use the Gurney. You can be in and out in less than 15 mins.
