I would love to write a book and have many ideas for stories but now I can't help but feel the story I want to write would be better set as a movie..so do I write a novel or a screenplay?

Either way I know it is going to be hard but I would prefer to start off in the right direction.

  1. its up to you how you wanna do it.

  2. It just depends. I would write the novel. Because you can be so much more detailed in it, and it can feel more like a movie to the reader that way. But if you really want to write it as a screenplay, go for it!

  3. Depends. Are you better at dialogue and an interesting story, or are you better at setting, symbolism, literary devices, etc.? To me, screenwriting is something that people with a strong sense of dialogue would excel at, whereas for a book there should be more written out in-depth characters, as well as literary devices that add some context to the plot line.

  4. In college, not yet in college, or already done with it?

If you're in college and you feel you can write screenplays, switch to that area of study.  You essentially need to have been in a film school to get a script even read, let alone made into a film.

If you are not yet in college, there you go, now you know where to go.

If you're done?  A book is much easier to get published, though it is still incredibly difficult to do so.

That said, it's still possible, and if you have the drive and talent, it is probable.
