A good high school friend who was planning to go to Notre Dame was so turned off by South Bend during his visit that he chose to go to school in the Boston metropolitan area instead. He said that South Bend is a pit and that Notre Dame students are trapped in a prison on campus and the only escape is to drive 2 hours to Chicago. Was he exaggerating? I had no idea that South Bend was so abysmal.

  1. You need to decide for yourself. Apply (you may only be accepted at one place, anyway?) and go with your own wishes, not others' opinions, I'd say. And furthermore, you'll be there to study with my tax paying dollars...so study. There are many people who'd die for S.B. and couldn't care less about Chicago!

Do more research for you. Good luck. And don't drink and do drugs. I've seen many dropouts who thought University was a game rather than their first job to societal contribution for 35 years.

  2. Go take a tour of it.  That way you can get a feel for it.  You can always transfer.  Stay there for one week and talk to the students.

  3. IT WAS BORING TOO

  4. I have heard the same thing from others.  That is why I am targeting Georgetown in DC, Villanova in Philly, and Holy Cross and BC in the Boston metro area.  I don't want to be stranded on a campus out in the middle of nowhere.
