Is it called a clicker or a remote control?

I would like to end a feud. Is the remote control called a clicker? or is a clicker called a remote control? what should the remote control be called?

  1. I call it the remote. I've never called it the clicker.  


  2. Its a regional thing in some parts its a clicker but in others its a remote control. Although I suppose the more technical one would be remote control.

It really doesn't matter what it's called.  As Shakespere said:  A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.  You can call it what you want.  If somebody else doens't like your name for it, they can call it what they want.  Call it George, it'll work just as good as if you call it a remote or a clikcer or whatever.  

      

      

  4. Remote Control is the proper term. In order to describe the device's function you would assume the name corresponds. Clicker may be a nickname as you "click" through channels, but the device itself is remote from the television/electronic device yet it offers the user some means of control without direct device interaction.

  6. remote control is what it is called in modern times, just like, u can call a couch a davenport (like my aunt)
