  1. sweet tea is iced tea, but iced tea is not necessarily sweet tea.  Iced tea can be both unsweetened and sweetened.  Ice tea is more of a general term.

  2. Two different things.

Iced tea is tea with Ice.  It can be Sweet (sugar added) or Unsweet (regular Iced tea).

  3. my husband is from texas and he calls it sweet tea and i am from pa, and i call it ice tea.....so i gues everyone calls it something different depending on where they live

  4. yep, Sweet Tea is definitely a Southern thing! In the South you specify Sweet tea or unsweetened- sweet tea has PLENTY of good old-fashioned sugar in it and it's wonderful!!!! If you want something like Splenda or Equal in it, you need to order unsweet because God forbid they make it healthy here!!! Anywhere else in the country you just get plain old iced tea and you add your own sweetener of choice. I moved to Nashville  a few years ago and discovered this delicacy quickly along with many other Southern culinary delights!

  5. sweet tea down south and you would not believe how hard it is to find in new york city, sweet tea or ice tea.calling it sweet tea has become more prevalent down south.

  6. When we lived in the south there was unsweetened iced tea and sweetened iced tea, or sweet tea.  Depending on where you went, sometimes it was just assumed that you wanted sweet tea.

Up north, I don't hear the phrase as much.

  7. is it sweet or iced? haha is this a serious question?

  8. I think iced tea is just when you have ice in it.. if there's no ice in it then it shouldn't be called iced tea! and if it's sweet tea, then it has sugar... if it has no sugar added, then it's just tea! lol hope I helped.. this is just my opinion though!

  9. In Pennsylvania it's iced tea whether it has ice or not. You can buy Southern brew sweet tea, among about a dozen other flavors in our local stores. I don't know if it's popular elsewhere around the country.

  10. iced tea  in some cases have no sweetener, sweet tea is just that.

  11. They are both iced tea. Sweet tea is just sweetened... a lot. That's the distinction I always made at least. I mean... if it's tea and it's cold, then it's iced tea. If it's sweetened (even if it isn't cold), then it's sweet tea.

  12. Iced tea can be sweetened or unsweetened, while sweet tea means it was definitely sweetened while being brewed.

  13. All chilled brewed tea with ice in it is iced tea.  It's sweet tea (or sweet iced tea) if it's sweetened with sugar, splenda etc.  Sweet tea is mostly a Southern thing...if you order sweet iced tea in many places in the north, they don't have it, you have to add your own sugar.
