i was wondering if it would be cheaper to buy a cheap dell laptop, and then buy more memory and a bigger hard drive to put in myself, or would it be cheaper to just buy one with all that already in it, also can you change processors in a computor?

  1. you can add ram, change cpu, change hdd. can't change mainboard and video chip.

but it's usually less cost effective than just buying a good laptop.

  2. Never buy ram upgrades from the computer company. You will always be ripped off. With a hard drive it all depends but it's generally better to upgrade it yourself. And in most laptops you cannot swap out the processor.
