Is it cheaper to buy airline tickets way in advance?

I mean a year in advance..or is it better to wait for deals 6 months or so before? I am looking for April of next year and the airlines that are selling them already are over $800 a piece each way! That is more than I have paid buying them 3 months ahead. Thanks

who know what is going to happen  my best guess is buy few month be for you get a ticket.

I always wait till about 3-5 months before we go. We travel every year and that has worked out the best.

flight fare is not fixed..it all depends on the demand..

i have booked a flight to melbourne b'fore 10 months ..and when i checked the fare b'fore 1 month of my departure..the flight fare was nearly doubled..thank god..!!
