It really depends where  you are going and when. I always try to purchase my tickets in advance to get a good rate, but sometimes if you wait you can get good last minute deals.   Check out Expedia on my website below, they are providing coupons for gas.

No, buying tickets 6-8 months before your flight will be alot cheaper and yea if you book your flight 1 week before your date of travel then it will be more expensive. I would advice you to book earlier before the peak seasons of airlines arrives because those are the time that fares goes way too expensive

Try using www.yapta.com  - even after you've bought your ticket. You may get be able to get a refund on the difference if the price drops.
