  1. $29.00 glasses.com

  2. Absolutely not. Reason number is frame. Frame fit is so important. If a frame does not fit you well then it can throw everything else off. To tell if a frame fits you good you need to check to see how centered your eyes are in the frame. The more centered the better the frame fit. Number two is you have to take measurements. One is called an optical center. When you have the frame on you must mark where the pupil is in the frame. Then you measure from the bottom of the frame to the mark that has been made. Second measurement is called a P.D.(pupilary distance) this is the measuremant between your two pupils. This measurement will actually control the thickness of your lenses. It is also important for you to be able to go over all of your lens options with someone so can find whats right for you.

  3. About a year ago I was asking myself the same question.

I found this place, ZenniOptical.com They sell glasses starting a $8.00 per pair. They have maybe a couple dozen at $8, and more at $9.95, $12.95 and more. They have Memory Titanium and Half-Rim Frames and lots of selections.

These prices are including single vision lenses. They charge more for Bi-Focals, progressives and photochromatics.

the pair I bought were $12.95, plus $17 for Bi-Focals plus $3.95 for made to fit clip on shades plus $5.?? shipping. They came is about 2 weeks.

The only problem with them was that they were a bit 'crooked', the temples (arms) were bent 'down' a bit, kinda like not at right angles to the frame. I asked about at at the glasses counter at Costco and they straightened them up for me. they've been good since then.

I've just ordered my two kids each a pair and am getting another for me.

You place your order on line, filling out the form they give you. You also have to measure just how far apart your eyes are, or you can ask your optician for your "PD" or 'pupillary distance'. It's petty easy to measure yourself - they give you instructions.

They're made in China. Apparently (I'm guessing) the order goes to their facility in China, and then every so often (every day?) they ship the glasses to their US address. Then they're repackaged and sent on to their customers.

The glasses are good, no one can tell them from anything else anywhere. They have a big selection. You can't beat the price. ...and no, I do not work for them!

When i first did this I was really wondering about what quality I'd get and what problems they'd ahve. Then I figured that for $8 a pair It's a small gamble (even though I spent about $40). I'm pretty happy with them.

  4. I have used www.optical4less.com 4 times now and been very satisfied. You will need to measure your own pupilary distance (PD), and other measurements, but I managed to do it, and I'm horrible at math. The quality is equal to glasses I paid over twice as much for from optical stores, and I actually think they did a BETTER job of getting the "sweet spot" right than the store. You will have to do the final fit adjustments yourself, but it's not rocket science. They even include the tools you need. I wouldn't go anywhere else now.

  5. It is cheaper, but when you buy glasses from a store, although they can be more expensive, your face is measured so that they do fit properly when they go to make them. This could pose a problem should you buy them online.I would just buy them at your local optical retailer if I were you!
