Is it cheaper to get an MRI scan in Mexico and how does one go about setting that up?

I have to get an MRI scan twice a year and am looking for less expensive alternatives.

umm...... I wouldn't trust the scan even if it is half as expensive, assuming they even have the equipment to do it. I don't think it would be a good idea to even travel to mexico because of the current escalation in the drug war.

Mexico has a world class Medicine, you can be sure you will find cheaper and accurate scannings in Mexico.

Monterrey is a great option,

You can try with two hospitals accredited by Joint Commission International (it means they are trusted to receive patients from HMOs).

However, there is a lot of prejudices among the american people, (just because of ignorance, even among physicians) so, I recommend you to ask your doctor....

I am from Mexico, many years ago I went to Houston with my mother, seeking for medical attention at the MD Anderson, and the physicians refused to see the mexican studies, arguying somthing as stupid as "mexican studies aren´t reliable" so, I had to pay for new studies for my mother... which obviously reported the same findings as mexican studies....
