  1. You will get discounts if you insure more than one car with a company. Many companies will also give you discounts if you also have home and life policies with them.

Depending upon the companies you can have problems using separate insurance companies in one family if you have a major claim. Some companies require every driver to be insured with them or they won't write the policy. This is because these policies are much more comprehensive than the "800" number policies and afford you much more protection and leeway with who drives what. If you have one of these companies and get another company for your teenager, if your company finds out they will cancel your policy. Check with an agent before getting separate policies.

  2. I recently got a car and I'm on State Farm insurance. With them you get a discount if you have multiple people on the account, as well as if you have a 3.0 gpa in high school or college. It doesn't make a difference that you're a new driver as long as you don't have any accidents, tickets, or insurance claims under your belt.

  3. check the phone book, and look for the smaller companies. they can easily provide liability only much cheaper.

they can also find loopholes, and change up the details.

    i was 21 and driving 4 years.

my agent "worked" with my history, said i had been driving for 5 years, no accidents and married so that i could have cheaper coverage.
