I recently bought a 2000 Acura TL for 8,000 and it runs fine. However, I want a more recent car. I was thinking maybe a Toyota Celica. I was wondering would it be cheaper to buy a selvaged one and then just rebuild it from there? i feel I could have spent my money a better way.

  1. I went through the entire process.  Once you try to rebuild, the problems never stop.  I had a Grand Am that died.  I should have just buried it.  I spent a couple of thousand on it and had one problem after another.

I know several people who have had a Toyota Celica.  They all drove them around 150,000 miles and had little to no problems.  Also good gas mileage.

I would go with the Celica.  It will save you money in the long run.

  2. the biggest issue with re-building a car is labor costs.., unless you have the ability, tools, know-how, and a good garage to work in.., you'll probably have to pay someone else to do it..., big bucks in the long, and not for a novice car enthusiast..., Just keep your car running well, dont ask any more of it than that, dont be concerned about a newer car either, your insurance will surely go up, good luck and watch out for motorcyclists...

  3. Better to buy a used Rental Car, which these companies normally get rid of every 1 year, and many have a factory warranty, and are many times below retail value. Buying a Used Car you Never know how the Vehicle was driven, and what damage has happened to the frame, susp, body, or the engine. And you dont want to be stuck in the middle of nowwhere, which can be dangerous and expensive.
