  1. If you figure the cost of meals and time  West Jet may be best And more comfortable

  2. Believe it or not, flying is probably the cheapest of all if you are flexible about the dates you can travel.  Greyhound bus is cheaper than driving yourself, and you don't have to do the work.

  3. To drive would be a wonderful adventure but can be dangerous.    Flying sounds like the best bet - but once there how will you get around (versus driving your car).

I went from North Carolina up to Fairbanks back in the early 90's and wanted to take the bus because it was the cheapest route - but I was advised that it would not be safe for a young lady to take such a trip - many bus stations are in unsafe locations and there are plenty of predators out there.  Consider your safety over cost.  Although I did say that driving might not be the best option - for your convenience once you are there driving might be best - find a friend to tag allong.  Most colleges have ride boards - check them out also check out craigslist for a rider - but do interview them.  Also get all of their contact information and leave it with someone who you will be in constant contact with.
