  1. 90p per bus trip on Oyster so yes. If you are a student in London you should get subsidised travel though. Check with your college or look on the TFL website.

  2. The answer is unfortunately it depends on your route and age. The tfl page in "sources" below details what you can get as an Oyster discount.

However the Oyster Photocard enables you to get a cheaper travelcard or season ticket, which may save you money depending on how much you travel.

  3. I'd think it be dependent on what zone you lived in and where you were going b/c if I remember correctly (I'm not British but I go to the UK to see my family often and they live all over town so I use an Oyster frequently) you can only get Oysters for inside-out/downtown-to-suburb (like 1-3 and 1-5 and not strange ones like 2-5). If you are staying within a certain area like that 3 part for example then it might be better to just use the bus. But if you moving between many zones on the bus then I'd think it'd be better to use the Oyster (plus you can use it for regular outings as well).

You'll probably have to do some nitty gritty calculations.

  4. oyster cards take about 1.50.... so i would use oyster if i were you

  5. yes, it's always cheaper to use oyster, whether pre-pay, or even cheaper, a bus pass.

    90p single, capped at £3 a day.

    £13 a week or £50 a month or £520 a year for a bus pass.

buses aren't zoned like the tube, so 1 price for all areas.

if you have an oyster you could also keep some pre-pay money on it as well as your bus pass for when you want to use the tube.

  6. If you are at college you need to get a student oyster card .You download the form on the tfl website. You will have 30% off on your weekly or monthly pass and from january next year on your sgl and return fares asual.
