I steam vegetables a lot and am happy with the results of both my microwave steamer and using my gas stove. So I am wondering, which is the less expensive option?

  1. Varies.  Cost of electricity versus cooking gas.  Microwave should be cheaper since cooking time is less.  Added advantage it doesn't heat up the house in summer.

  2. gas stove DUH read your bills

  3. the microwave is heaps cheaper no question:)

  4. i am guessing the gas is the cheaper way

  5. gas stove is cheaper,

my nan and pop use it all the time

  6. I think gas, because even tho the cooking time is less, microwave uses a lot of power...but don't quote me on that, I'd have to check with my electrician of a boyfriend when he gets home.

It's also much healthier to cook them on the stove.....the microwave zaps the nutrients from the veggies

I used to love them when mum cooked them in the microwave, but now I'm grown up i think it tastes heaps better from the stove top too
